Liberal Party Leader Justin Trudeau said on Sept. 27 that if elected, his party plans to plant two billion trees over a decade in an effort to help combat climate change.
“Planting these trees will have a real and tangible effect on lowering greenhouse emissions across the country,” Trudeau said.
He also vowed the initiative will create roughly 3,000 new jobs to do the replanting.
This is a most important statement and one that leads the way for more countries to put the effort into planting trees as a step towards co2 reduction. This can be part of the debate regard carbon tax as if the money would actually go towards planting trees there would be much less opposition to it.
